The Dumbo Octopus

The Dumbo Octopus
The Dumbo Octopus is 8 feet tall. It got it's name from Disney's flying elephant Dumbo because of its "ear" like flippers. This octopod is the deepest known living octopus. It can live up to 7,000 feet below the surface of the water. 18 species have been discovered so far, but scientists believe there are more than 36 species. Females lay eggs all year round, so they have no distinct breeding season. It's arms are atached to each other with webbing at the base it's 8 tentacles. It moves by using it's tentacles to push it's self through the water, or by flapping the flippers on it's head. It can also move by using it's     water jet just like the Nautilus has. All though there are many things that are unknown about this animal, it's a very interesting one!
